Staff Bios
Ted Granger, President
Ted Granger received his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in 1978, and later received his Juris Doctor degree from the same esteemed institution. After “hanging his shingle” and engaging in general civil and criminal trial litigation for three years, he was hired by the Florida Senate as a legislative analyst with the Commerce Committee.
In 1986, he joined the Florida Chamber of Commerce as the Vice President of Government Relations and, after four years, left to become President of the United Way of Florida. The United Way of Florida is a statewide association representing Florida’s 34 United Ways on Florida legislative and administrative issues, policy development for the Florida State Employees’ Charitable Campaign, and implementation of developmental programs for local United Way organizations.
Among others, Ted is Chair of the FEMA State Set-Aside Committee, the Healthy Families Florida Statewide Advisory Committee, and Children’s Week. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Florida Alliance of Information and Referral Services, and the Policy Group for Florida’s Families.
He and his wife, Ellen, reside in Tallahassee and have two sons, 19 year-old Colin and 17 year-old Nathan.
Beth Meredith, Chief Operating Officer
Beth has been with the United Way of Florida since 1990. She is responsible for directing, coordinating, and rendering various direct services to the members and assisting the president with the daily management of the organization’s services, programs and finances. Additionally, Beth serves as the point person for the contractual duties of the United Way of Florida as statewide fiscal agent for the Florida State Employees’ Charitable Campaign (FSECC).
A devoted Seminole fan, Beth has a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in Psychology with a minor in child development. Beth, who is originally from southern New Jersey, has been in Tallahassee since 1980. She is married and has a 13-year old daughter, two step-sons, ages 14 and 18, and four dogs.
Kay Racine, Office Manager
Kay joined the United Way of Florida in May 2006. As office manager, she is responsible for the day-to-day administrative tasks in the office, and also serves as the organization’s receptionist. With 20+ years of administrative support experience, Kay ensures the office runs smoothly and efficiently.
Originally from Cleveland, Kay moved to Tallahassee in 2005. She is an avid sports fan, especially cheering for the Cleveland Browns. She is married to Ernie and they have three adult children and two dachshunds. Kay definitely loves living in the South!
